Tips to Maintain Tile Stickers

Tile stickers have become a favoured choice around the world when it comes to renovation of the house. They are a budget-friendly and a time saving alternative to getting new floors or tiles. They have all the good characteristic of tiles and do not cost as much as them. Tile transfers are heat resistant, water resistant, easy to clean and maintain and last a long time. They can be installed with ease and can be painlessly removed. Even though, they are made from different materials as tiles, they provide the same look and feel to your bathrooms and kitchen floors. These tiles are built to last, but you can follow these simple rules to enhance their life even further.

Do not buff without wax

The tile stickers can get damaged if you buff them without using wax. Therefore, it is important that you use enough wax before you start buffing these tile stickers. Ideally, you should apply four layers of wax if you using high-speed buffers for your bathroom tile decals and kitchen floors. Applying multiple layers of wax offers a lot of protection to your decals at the time of buffing.

Avoid dragging heavy objects over them

Dragging heavy objects over your tile stickers will lead to scratches and you may have to replace them if they lose their look or lustre. When moving heavy objects like tables or beds, it is best to lift them instead of dragging them all along the ground.

Don’t allow splashes to stay on the stickers

You can enhance the life of kitchen wall tile stickers by simply cleaning them on a regular basis. All you need to do is wipe them with a soft towel and a mild detergent or a soap. Using too harsh a cleaning agent can lead to discolouration of tiles. If, by chance, you do end up using a harsh detergent then it is best to wipe it with water as soon as possible. The longer you leave the detergent on these tiles, the more chances of wear and tear.

Do not let scuff marks sit

The moment you notice scuff marks on these floor and wall tile transfers, you should clean them. Scuff marks can appear because of dirt in the shoes or dragging of chairs and tables. Spots can appear if you drop something on the floor or splash something on the walls. As soon as you notice any marks or spots, get a scratch-free towel or a cloth and soapy water to clean it. If the spots remain even after cleaning with a soft towel, you can use a scratch-free cleaning pad.

Even though these stickers are water resistant, they can get discoloured or leave a spot if you let the liquid sit. In areas where there is a lot of water usage, like the kitchen or the bathroom, wipe the stickers with a soft dry towel soon after usage.
